Patriots Match Best Winning Streak Since Brady Era with Triumph Against New York Jets
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has tallied five touchdowns in the present year
The New England Patriots equaled their best victory streak from the Brady era as they beat AFC East rivals the Jets by 13 points in the NFL
Rookie Henderson shone brightly with three TDs as the New England squad claimed an eighth straight win for the first time since star signal-caller Brady's closing campaign with the franchise in 2019
Quarterback Drake Maye threw for 281 yards and a TD, connecting on 25 passes from 34 throws
Victory increases the Patriots lead at the summit of the division as they moved to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets at the foot after slipping to two victories and eight defeats
The opposing team had taken the lead at their home field with quarterback Justin Fields rushing for a five-yard touchdown to finish the New York's initial series
But the New England responded in the second period as the rookie rushed for two short rushing scores before the running back grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone midway through the third period to extend the lead to 21-7
"It was a key occasion for him stepping up, and it's been great for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He aims to be great."
Fields threw to Metchie in the latter part of the third period to close the gap for the visitors but Borregales kicked a two kicks in the fourth quarter as the home side sealed the win
